Influences of national culture on the leadership style of expatriates in Sweden

Expats in Sweden may be interested in participating in a survey. I got this request on XING to send out to the relevant groups I moderate so I thought I would share it here:

Dear Madam or Sir.

Thank you very much in advance for taking a few minutes for considering my message.

My name is Tobias Luzius and I do currently work as expatriate at Freudenberg Household Products AB in Norrköping, Sweden. Besides my employment I am studying a Master of Business Administration (MBA) at the University of Liverpool, and I am currently preparing my final dissertation (master thesis). The dissertation requires, besides extensive literature research, an empirical part for which I need to collect and analyze primary data in form of a survey. This is also the reason of my email today.

The topic of my dissertation is “Influences of national culture on the leadership style of expatriates in Sweden”, dealing with the following research questions:
– What leadership styles do make a leader effective in Sweden?
– What influences does the Swedish culture have on the leadership style of expatriates in Sweden?
– How susceptible are expatriates in Sweden to local leadership styles?
– Does the influence remain with the leaders after they return to their home countries or do they fall back to previous behavior?

For the collection of primary data I do a survey among expatriates in Sweden (those currently working in Sweden and those who might have moved back not too long ago), ideally from different industries and different nations of origin. The aim of the dissertation is to understand the cultural influences and their impact on the effectiveness of expatriate leaders, thus providing basic research for supporting the effectiveness and success of these expatriates.

In order for my empirical research to be meaningful, I need a considerable amount of data. Therefore I am contacting you today kindly asking for your help.

At https://www.surveymonkey.com/s/Expatriate_Leadership_in_Sweden%3E you will find my online survey. The survey will take about 15 minutes to respond. All information, including the statistical data, will be anonymous, respondents will not need to provide their name or company information.

The results of my work, which I finish in September, will be made available to all participants who leave their email address at the end of the survey.
