When did you move to Scandinavia?

I moved here sometime in June, 2007.

What facilitated your move?

I met my husband and this was what made us decide to move or rather me decide to move to Sweden so we could be together and start a life here together.

Where did you move from?

I was studying and working in Austria and I moved from there to Sweden.

What did you study in Austria?

International Relations.

How have your become a part of your community in Scandinavia?

I have a wonderful church I attend. I also was able to study the language by going to school, so I met quite a few people from different parts of the world trying to also make a life here. I am also part of a professional women’s group here in Gothenburg.

Do you belong to any organizations/groups/clubs?

The professional women’s group of Gothenburg.

Will you raise your baby to embrace your culture and his Scandinavian surroundings?

Yes, we plan to raise our baby to be part of this culture and allow him to embrace his Scandinavian heritage. But, we also will raise him to be Ghanaian. We speak 2 languages at home and we enjoy two different cultures here.

What would you do differently if you new then what you know now?

I do not know if I would do anything differently. But, perhaps — I would try to be more patient because moving to a new place requires time and patience. Nothing can be rushed.

Also, what part of Ghana do you come from?

My family is from Kumasi.

And did you move to Austria from Ghana?

Actually, I was born in Kenya, even though my parents are Ghanaian. We are missionaries, my dad was a pastor.

Have you lived in other places in addition to Ghana, Austria and Sweden?

I have lived in South Africa, USA and Kenya and for a brief time in Germany.
